Classical Guitar Lessons in Victoria BC

At Rosette Music Studio, my goal is to create a warm, encouraging, and supportive environment where each student feels comfortable learning music at their own pace. I offer personalized classical guitar lessons tailored to each student’s unique interests, goals, and learning style.

My teaching is strongly rooted in classical guitar technique and repertoire, while also incorporating creativity, musical expression, and enjoyment into every lesson.

Beginner Guitar Lessons

For beginner guitar students, lessons focus on building a strong technical foundation through proper posture, hand positioning, music reading, rhythm, and music theory. Students are introduced to classical guitar repertoire gradually and at a comfortable pace while developing confidence and healthy playing habits.

In addition to classical music, lessons may also include:

  • strumming patterns

  • pop songs

  • flamenco-inspired techniques

  • ear training

  • creative musical exploration

Intermediate and Advanced Classical Guitar Lessons

For intermediate and advanced guitar students, lessons focus on refining technique, improving musicality, and developing a deeper understanding of the classical guitar repertoire.

Areas of study may include:

  • right and left hand coordination

  • scales and arpeggios

  • fretboard knowledge and shifting

  • tone production

  • legato playing

  • phrasing and musical interpretation

  • performance preparation

  • stylistic understanding of repertoire

  • RCM exam preparation

Students are encouraged to develop both technical fluency and artistic expression through thoughtful, individualized instruction.

Lesson Time: Weekly lessons secure your time and space. If you are interested in casual lessons, you can make arrangements for an available time on a week by week basis.

Cancellations: A lesson canceled by the teacher will be made up or a credit given. Students are expected to show up to their scheduled lessons regardless of vacations, sports games, school or other obligations. Any request to reschedule made with at least 24 hours’ notice will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Rescheduled lessons are priorities for sickness, or family emergencies and are done so in regular business hours.

Illness: Understandably, last minute cancellations may happen due to illness. In this case, the teacher does her best to make up the lesson, add time to lessons or find an additional slot; however, she is under no obligation to do so. The teacher will do their best to offer time slots for make up during regular business hours.

Practicing: Students are expected to practice for their lessons the materials the teacher outlines. The teacher will recommend a practice schedule and provide practice tips depending on your levels, age and goals.
