Private Lessons

My teaching philosophy is to create a warm, safe space for each student and to provide bespoke lessons tailored to the unique gifts and interests of each student.

My primary focus and teaching expertise is strongly rooted in classical guitar technique and repertoire. If you are a beginner student, I can work with you to set up technique and posture while introducing music theory, performance and repertoire at your own pace. Although I have trained primarily in classical music, I also incorporate strumming, flamenco technique, pop songs, riffs and more into lessons.

For intermediate and advanced students, I can help you fine tune your technique including: right hand and left hand positioning and coordination, scales, arpeggios, fretboard positions. I will also help you understand the structure and phrasing of your music, work on legato playing, musicality, and introduce you to new pieces in the classical guitar repertoire.

I teach in my home studio located in Victoria BC in person or online via Zoom. Lessons are 30min, 45min or 60min depending on the student. Please read the studio policy below for more information on fees, payment and cancellation.

If you are interested in studying with me, please fill in the contact form after reviewing my studio policy below. I will get in touch to have a free meeting/interview to ensure we will be a good fit.

Lesson Fees:

  • $65 - 1hr weekly lesson

  • $50 - 45min weekly lesson

  • $35- 30min weekly lessons

  • $70/hr for casual lessons

Lesson Payment: Weekly lessons are generally invoiced at the beginning of the month each month for the upcoming month of lessons. Alternatively, payments can be made for full term of lessons or you can purchase a package of 10 lessons to use on a casual basis. Payment is accepted by e-transfer (preferred), paypal, cheque or cash.

Lesson Time: Weekly lessons secure your time and space. If you are interested in casual lessons, you can make arrangements for an available time on a week by week basis.

Cancellations: A lesson canceled by the teacher will be made up or a credit given. Students are expected to show up to their scheduled lessons regardless of vacations, sports games, school or other obligations. Any request to reschedule made with at least 24 hours’ notice will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Rescheduled lessons are priorities for sickness, or family emergencies and are done so in regular business hours.

Illness: Understandably, last minute cancellations may happen due to illness. In this case, the teacher does her best to make up the lesson, add time to lessons or find an additional slot; however, she is under no obligation to do so. The teacher will do their best to offer time slots for make up during regular business hours.

Practicing: Students are expected to practice for their lessons the materials the teacher outlines. The teacher will recommend a practice schedule and provide practice tips depending on your levels, age and goals.
